Polari Labs has launched its A-BALL Kickstarter down under as it looks to bring its product to Aussie shores.
Healthtech startup Polari Labs launched in London back in 2023 with a focus on removing barriers to intimacy.
The company’s first product to that end was the A-BALL, marketed as a 30-second alternative to douching.
“Let’s be honest the least s3xy part of butt fun is the preparation. Douching isn’t five minutes, it’s planning, waiting, panicking, praying to the butt gods…and sometimes cancelling the hookup entirely,” it says online.
Within 24 hours of its launch, it raised over $150,000 after a viral Kickstarter campaign.
It has now raised over $379,000 with 21 days to go.
CEO Anna Vybornova said that, thanks to the campaign’s success, they were able to expand the Kickstarter campaign to their Australian supporters.
“We saw an overwhelming number of requests from Australia within the first days of the campaign,” she said.
“Opening to Australia wasn’t just a growth decision, it was a response to real demand from people who felt seen by what we’re building.”
The company spent over two and a half years developing the product, with co-founder Dr Henry Blest saying it removed the friction of getting intimate.
“Millions of people are still relying on DIY solutions for something that directly impacts confidence and intimacy. We built A-BALL to remove that friction entirely.”
The A-BALL is a gel ball-like insert made from gelatin and alginate (a natural biodegradable gum made from seaweed) that forms a gentle internal barrier.
The company claims that once inside, it pushes any fecal matter upwards and out of the way and stops any more from coming down.
“(It) gets shoved up during the fun, parking itself at the top of the rectum like a VIP bouncer, making sure no uninvited guests (a.k.a. poop) crash the party.”
According to the company, the ball gradually softens and comes out with the next bowel movement.
Already, there are over 100 Australian backers on the Kickstarter campaign, with a minimum pledge of roughly $93, which gets you 20 A-BALLS.
Polari Labs says part of their fundraising is to conduct wider testing with real-life humans, and as with any new invention, there’s a chance it could fail.
“The goal is simple: make sure A-BALL integrates seamlessly into real life and causes no harm, no drama, no surprises. Next up: consumer trials. This is where we confirm A-BALL behaves the way we expect it to in real bodies.”
Kickstarter warns anyone considering pledging: “You are supporting an ambitious creative project that has yet to be developed. It’s important to consider that, despite a creator’s efforts, there’s a risk that your reward may not be fulfilled.”
The Kickstarter has just 21 days to go, with the company hoping to ship out the product as early as next January.
