Three new queer venues are hiring

Stonewall Hotel Newtown, TRIBE @ 231, and Trough Sydney are all currently seeking staff as they prepare to open.

It was previously reported that Stonewall Hotel would be opening along King Street in Newtown, with Gay Sydney News revealing the location.

In a post yesterday, GSN revealed that the owners of Stonewall Hotel had paid $4.1 million for the former Kuleto’s cocktail bar.

In a post to Facebook, Stonewall Newtown revealed they were seeking people who can “pour a drink, handle a crowd and bring good vibes every shift.”

“If you love nightlife, community, and a bar where you can truly be yourself, this is your moment.”

Meanwhile, back on Oxford Street, it has previously been reported that the owners behind Palms had bought the building at 231 Oxford Street.

It was originally set to be called Pink Pony Club, but following community backlash it will be opening in late February as TRIBE @ 231.

In a post to Facebook, it said it was seeking staff for shifts on Friday and Saturday nights, with the latest shift ending at 6am.

“We need Barmen, Barbacks and Glassys with outgoing personalities that are hardworking with a reliable and conscientious work ethic.”

The venue with the least amount of information surrounding it, however, is Trough Sydney, which is still occupying 273 Crown Street.

Builders were spotted going in there last December, but currently there have been no changes to its signage.

It was set to open in time for Sydney Mardi Gras back in 2025, with a full social media strategy at the time.

However, nothing eventuated until this week, when posters appeared on its front window saying ‘POSITIONS VACANT’.

When contacted by Gay Sydney Daily for more information, we were rebuffed, with the group saying it would “make an official announcement in our own time.”
